This interactive workshop is intended for anyone who supervises, or wishes to supervise, in a human services environment. The importance of the role of a supervisor in creating a positive work environment will be examined, along with the challenges a supervisor faces from a “realistic” picture of the field. Practical tools along with the opportunity to practice will be provided.
Dr. Gillian Berry has nearly twenty-five years of social work experience as aclinical social worker and educator. She obtained her Master’s and Doctoral degrees from Birmingham University in England. She has worked full time at the University of Botswana’s Department of Social Work Southern Africa, and is currently an adjunct faculty member at the University of Maryland, Baltimore School of Social Work. Dr Berry currently works as a clinical social work consultant and independent practitioner providing direct, training and supervisory services in the Washington DC area. She presents at conferences, nationally and internationally on professional social work practice, public child welfare, culturally appropriate practice, and personal/self-improvement. Dr. Berry has a passionfor training and strives to deliver excellence to support better outcomes for individuals, couples, children and families.
