Description

Supervisors have an essential role in teaching social workers professional strategies for addressing clinical issues in their practice. The purpose of this workshop is to enhance supervisory skills to help social workers develop critical thinking, professional identity, and practice best practices. This workshop includes practice activities to apply the content covered and examples of strategies for enhanced supervision.

Social Worker, LCSW-C and alum of SSW. Currently Faculty Liaison and Clinical Instructor at SSW; her responsibilities are with the Title IV-E Education for Public Child Welfare program. Over 25 years’ experience in the human services field including direct service, staff development and training, administration and teaching – many of those years with the MD St. Dept. of Human Resources. She has been instrumental in organizing the SW advocacy day in Annapolis which has brought visibility to SW issues through work with MSW students and legislators. She has been a Board Member of the Catholic Campaign for Human Development of the Archdiocese of Baltimore since 1983 serving in a variety of capacities.  Her current focus is on local activities of this national foundation where she offers technical assistance and promotes community organizing and economic development with low income individuals. Pleased to have her contribute her expertise in the area of social work advocacy to the CPE program.

  • Explore the functions and role of clinical supervision.
  • Develop strategies to improve critical thinking and professional practice of those they supervise.
  • Incorporate strategies for developing professional identity of their supervisees to improve clinical outcomes.

Category I Maryland BSWE Requirement

The Office of Continuing Professional Education at the University Of Maryland School Of Social Work is authorized by the Board of Social Work Examiners in Maryland to sponsor social work continuing education programs. This workshop qualifies for {3} Category I Continuing Education Units for{supervision}. The Office of Continuing Professional Education is also authorized by the Maryland Board of Psychologists and the Maryland Board of Professional Counselors to sponsor Category A continuing professional education.

 

ASWB Approved

Course completion requirements: To earn CE credit, social workers must log in at the scheduled time, attend the entire course, and complete the online course evaluation located in your account. After the online course evaluation is completed, you are then able to download your certificate. Partial Credit will not be given for participants who arrive late or leave early.

 

Unversity of Maryland School of Social Work, Office of Continuing Professional Education, provider #1611, is approved to offer social work continuing education by the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) Approved Continuing Education (ACE) program. Organizations, not individual courses, are approved as ACE providers. State and provincial regulatory boards have the final authority to determine whether an individual course may be accepted for continuing education credit. UMSSW Office of CPE maintains responsibility for this course. ACE provider approval period: 02/11/2021 to 02/11/2024. Social workers participating in this course receive {3} continuing education {supervision} credits.
