Description

Teens are using more and more substances these days. The substances have become easier to get, easier to use, and sadly more deadly. However, treatment opportunities for adolescents have diminished since 2015. Fewer institutions are requiring the study of specific treatment interventions for adolescents and SUD. Therefore, there are fewer professionals in the field with the special skill set to engage adolescents in SUD treatment. Our children are our future. With young adult opioid overdose deaths at alarming rates over the past decade and the introduction of THC products into our communities, it is more important than ever to become better prepared to treat teens who are presenting with a substance use disorder.
