Description

The transition from active duty to civilian life can be overwhelmingly difficult for veterans to navigate. The most common struggles they face relate to employment, finances, legal matters, substance use disorders, mental health, relationships, and homelessness. This session will explore the overall veteran population, their needs, military culture, benefits, behavioral health challenges, and resources available.

Jamie is a licensed Social Worker from Baltimore, Maryland. She graduated with her Master of Social Work from the University of Maryland, Baltimore after receiving her Bachelor’s Degree in social work from Christopher Newport University. She is currently the Senior Director of Court Programs and Strategic Initiatives at United Way of Central Maryland (UWCM), where she has been since 2013. Before working at UWCM, she worked with at-risk, new mothers, conducting home visits and child development assessments. Jamie has a background in program management, specifically addressing issues related to homelessness, veterans, and the criminal justice system. She has been the Court Coordinator for Baltimore City’s Veterans Treatment Court since inception in 2015. She currently also oversees the Anne Arundel County Veterans Treatment Court and various other program management projects at United Way.

  • Gain insight on the difficulties that take place during the transition from serving to civilian life.

Category I Maryland BSWE Requirement

The Office of Continuing Professional Education at the University Of Maryland School Of Social Work is authorized by the Board of Social Work Examiners in Maryland to sponsor social work continuing education programs. This workshop qualifies for {3} Category I Continuing Education Units. The Office of Continuing Professional Education is also authorized by the Maryland Board of Psychologists and the Maryland Board of Professional Counselors to sponsor Category A continuing professional education.

The base price is $70, which includes CE credit. 

Late Fee: On October 24, 2024, a non-refundable late fee of $20 is added to the base price. Late fees cannot be refunded or applied to account credit. 

Cancellations: **ALL cancellations will be subjected to a $35.00 administration fee.** Cancellations must be received 24 hours in advance prior to the workshop to receive a refund or an account credit.
